When I learnt David Hockney had left us…

I was in Sainte Maxime for lunch, and took a photo of the trees David Hockney had painted.

I went for lunch at Maison Bleue, a couple of streets from the seafront, and it was only then I saw the sad news on the SKY app on my phone. The emotional connection I felt at that moment was huge. To be there, to have taken that photo. The four of us lunching raised a glass to David Hockney and thanked him for his inspiration. RIP.
